Position Summary

Caribou Thunder is seeking a skilled Finance Analyst Level II to join our team and provide support to an office that offers Enterprise Audit and Performance Monitoring platforms as a service. In this role, you will primarily work behind the scenes, supporting department finances and effectively communicating financial updates, challenges, and opportunities. Complete Description

As a Finance Analyst Level II, you will primarily support the department's finances and effectively communicate financial updates, challenges, and opportunities. There is potential for this role to evolve into a customer-facing position as we identify and implement cost recovery efforts. The Finance Analyst Level II will play a vital role in budget management, financial tracking, and adherence to relevant policies and regulations.

  • Support the department's finances and provide effective communication of financial updates, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Engage in fiscal year close-out activities as needed, aiming to mitigate the need for end-of-year extended hours.
  • Track and manage the department's budget execution and financial accounts using various financial systems and tools, including the Financial Form Repository, Budget and Agreements software, Accounting System, and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Interpret policies relevant to the department's financial accounting, such as cost recovery, and update leadership on policy or regulation changes as needed.
  • Recommend budget management practices that align with the department's sustainability goals and adhere to policies and regulations.
  • Liaise with external contacts who receive services from the department and identify potential sources for cost recovery.
  • Monitor and track department expenses, cash flow, and transaction status through sponsor financial systems and repositories.
  • Review and update the department's existing SOPs for budget and contract tracking, identifying areas for improvement.

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong understanding and experience with finance systems and tools, including Corporate Action Tracker, Accounting System, Financial Form Repository, Budget and Agreements Software, and Reporting Software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with AWS Billing Manager.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in Corporate Action Tracker and the Accounting System.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Financial Form Repository, Budget and Agreements Software, and Reporting Software.
  • Basic proficiency in AWS Billing Manager and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with finance processes and tools used for cost recovery efforts.
  • Knowledge of budget management and financial tracking best practices.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and processes.
