Position SummaryCaribou Thunder is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) Models and Simulation (M&S) engineer. This is a hands-on technical position--a deep understanding GN&C) Models and Simulation (M&S) engineering is required.
Complete DescriptionAs a GN&C Systems Engineer, you will work on a team of Guidance, Navigation and Control engineers to develop the GNC Models and Simulation.
  • Develop and analyze GNC algorithms (Guidance, Navigation, Autopilot)
  • Develop, verify, and validate complex 6 degree of freedom vehicle models.
  • Model missile components such as inertial measurement units (IMU) and thrust vector control (TVC) systems.
  • Use C++ and MATLAB and Object-Oriented design.
  • Perform trajectory assessment and flight analyses.
  • Gather and analyze the mission requirements to ensure mission objectives and constraints are met.
  • Collaborate with a team of GN&C engineers in an Agile environment to meet critical milestones.
  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development stages utilizing (M&S) tools systems for safety and mission critical analysis.
  • Work with the GN&C Flight Software Team to automatically generate code from high-level specifications or models, ensuring consistency and reducing manual errors.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 - 7 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 4 years of experience with Master's degree, 1 year of experience with PhD
  • Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years.
  • Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
  • Demonstrated experience in the area of guidance, navigation, or control algorithm development and/or analysis for launch vehicles, missiles, spacecraft, and/or aircraft.
  • Demonstrated experience coding in a higher-level programming language (C, C++, MATLAB/Simulink, etc.)
  • Experience with working in a fast paced, agile environment with the ability to work on cross-function Scrum team focused on quality and capability delivery.
  • Experience with full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug, and maintenance.
  • Experience in developing GNC algorithms (Guidance, Navigation, Autopilot).
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Experience with Agile Development Experience with DoDAF standards and methods.
Preferred Requirements
  • Masters or equivalent advanced degree in applicable technical discipline
  • Experience with a software version control system, such as Git, Gitlabs, and/or Bitbucket
  • Experience working in an Agile team or even leading a scrum team
  • Extensive experience with MATLAB/Simulink
  • Experience with Object-Oriented Programming
  • Proficiency in technical writing and documentation
  • Knowledge of estimation and control theory, such as Kalman filtering
  • Experience with linear stability analysis to determine control system stability margins
  • Experience modeling navigation sensors, such as IMU or GPS
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Experience in algorithmic application development, integration, and optimization
  • Experience with the Atlassian tool set, Agile Development, Model Based Engineering, and Software Development best practices
  • Experience with DO-178C Flight Critical Systems Safety programming
  • Experience with certification, airworthiness, testing, and qualification of flight and safety critical systems.
