Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Systems Engineer to join our team. As a Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in producing new products, developing brand new capabilities, and rearchitecting existing systems. Your responsibilities will include documenting requirements, engaging with J6, generating requirements for software developers, and collaborating with various teams.

This position requires enterprise-level architecture experience, a strong understanding of software development methodologies, and the ability to work with virtual machine environments. Knowledge of Global Command and Control System or military operational experience would be highly beneficial. Complete Description

As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for driving the development and enhancement of new products, capabilities, and system architectures. You will collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and generate detailed documentation within JIRA.

  • Your knowledge in enterprise-level architecture will be essential in providing guidance and ensuring that software developers have clear requirements to execute.
  • Having experience with the Global Command and Control System or military operational background will be invaluable in understanding high-level requirements and providing insights for system improvements.
  • The entire suite of systems operates within a virtual machine environment, and you will be responsible for asking the right questions, creating use cases, and providing technical guidance to developers.
  • While the focus is not primarily on model-based systems engineering, an understanding of requirements elicitation, analysis, development, and management is crucial. Cross-platform management, particularly with Windows and Unix/Linux data exchange, is also required.

Minimum Requirements

  • Ability to produce new products, develop brand new capabilities, and rearchitect existing systems.
  • Involvement with J6 and the documentation of a large number of requirements within JIRA.
  • Experience with enterprise-level architecture.
  • Ability to generate clear requirements for software developers.
  • Ideally, familiarity with Global Command and Control System and military operational experience, particularly in an Air Force background.
  • Proficiency in virtual machine environments.
  • Capability to ask insightful questions and create use cases for software developers.
  • Understanding of requirements elicitation, analysis, development, and management.
  • Familiarity with cross-platform management, specifically Windows and Unix/Linux data exchange.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with decomposition and model-based system engineering.
  • Proficiency in working with virtual machine environments.
  • Understanding of configuration and data management concepts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the full software lifecycle and standard software development methodologies.
  • Ability to lead independent technical investigations, provide technical advice, recommend solutions, and integrate Global Command and Control System functionality into new baselines.
  • Ability to interface with multiple geographically dispersed development teams to ensure compliance with emerging standards and requirements.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, including visits to Ft. Meade DISA HQ, the Pentagon in Washington, DC, and other relevant locations.
